Hello everyone and happy Monday.

After a sleepless night, my day started feeling like a typical “Monday”.  You know what I mean.  You need one more day of weekend, you are tired, you aren’t ready for whatever the week will bring.  In my job I see a lot of people.  A lot of strangers.  All with a sad story and in need.  Now and again it takes a toll on us.  It’s usually the “BS” that occasionally comes with people that gets us down.  I asked God out loud this morning “please no people today”.  As I knew I was not in the right frame of mind.  Well, we’ve already had people.

But before people came, God gave me a little reminder that He is here.  On my desk this morning was a gift and a note.  The note said,

“I hope this gift will bring you joy and that you will be able to look at it and know that someone out there is thinking about you and pryaing for you.  Thank you for all you do.  God bless!” (No signature)

Inside the bag was this sweet homemade gift:

What a touching display of love from a mystery friend!

My mystery friend obviously knows me well enough to know I am struggling as I prepare for another knee replacement surgery.  I’m guessing she is a Facebook friend and maybe even has read this blog.

It brought to mind the scripture that tells us to be “strong and courageous”.  So before I began writing this I looked it up.  The http://www.biblegateway.com web site gave me ELEVEN references that use the words “strong and courageous” together!   All in different context.

“Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.” Joshua 1:9

What a great boost for my spirit today on many levels.  It’s so nice to have a friend who thinks of you and encourages you like this.  And it’s such a blessing to be reminded that God is with me and helping me be strong and courageous!

DEAR MYSTERY FRIEND: Thank you with all my heart!  You blessed me this morning.

Have a great week everyone!

One of those typical Mondays.  Daylight Savings Time.  Hurting body.  Headache.  No make up.  Seeing many more than the NO PEOPLE I thought I’d see at work.  And then it happened.

An anonymous friend sent me amazingly lovely flowers!

Yes I'm Smiling! Thank you for this blessing.

THANK YOU DEAR FRIEND!  For thinking of me on this typical Monday.  What a blessing you were to me today.

What do you see and hear on Facebook, Twitter and emails on Friday?  A whole bunch of TGIFs!  Everyone is so thankful to God that it’s Friday!  Why?  Because then it’s the weekend right?  And who doesn’t love the weekend?

So then on Monday…we all come dragging our sorry selves in to work or begin the daily grind at home and have nothing good to say for Monday.  Over the same social media offerings we all moan and complain about Monday!

On this particular Monday it seems that there is more Monday grumbling than usual.  Myself included!  I did, however, “forgive” Monday as it’s a beautiful morning and payday! 😀

One Facebook friend gave us this reminder of why we dislike Mondays:

Please allow me to offer a few reasons we really NEED to be saying TGIM … or T, W, Tr, F, Sa, Su!!

Philippians 4:6 (NIV)
Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.

Philippians 4:6 (The Message)
6-7Don’t fret or worry. Instead of worrying, pray. Let petitions and praises shape your worries into prayers, letting God know your concerns. Before you know it, a sense of God’s wholeness, everything coming together for good, will come and settle you down. It’s wonderful what happens when Christ displaces worry at the center of your life.

Deuteronomy 4:39 (NIV)
Acknowledge and take to heart this day that the LORD is God in heaven above and on the earth below. There is no other.

Psalm 118:24 (The Message)
 21-25 Thank you for responding to me;
you’ve truly become my salvation!
The stone the masons discarded as flawed
is now the capstone!
This is God’s work.
We rub our eyes—we can hardly believe it!
This is the very day God acted—
let’s celebrate and be festive!
Salvation now, God. Salvation now!
Oh yes, God—a free and full life!

Or the more familiar…

Psalm 118:24 (New King James Version)
 24 This is the day the LORD has made;
We will rejoice and be glad in it.

It’s all about perspective…It’s a new day given to us as a gift from God.  Whether Monday, Friday or Sunday.

Strange weekend.  Time change, busy work at home and an emotional epiphany…same ol’ same ol’.

This morning I encourage you to take a look down the right hand side of this page.  Click on the blog links in my “Blogroll”.  These people have a lot of wisdom and humor.  I feel that their words are much more affective today than my own.

Always put new batteries in your smoke detectors at the yearly time changes

Enjoy and have a great week!

P.S.! You all changed your clocks back on hour this weekend right?  Now, please remember to put NEW batteries in ALL your smoke detectors!  If your smoke detector is 10+ years old, please buy a new one.  They are very inexpensive these days.  While you’re at it, pick on up for someone in need!  Check with your local Fire Department as many will install smoke detectors at no cost.

How about a random thought blog for Monday morning too?

  • I actually got some sleep last night!  whoo hoooo!!  Trouble is with deep sleep comes the unwanted weird and wacky

    Fall mums in my yard

dreams.  What’s up with that?!  Oh well, I’ll take the sleep for sure.  I was sleeping so deep this morning I didn’t hear my alarm and woke up half-an-hour late.

  • How petty is it that I’m in a good mood because I’m wearing a new sweater that I am totally in love with?  😀  AND…my new necklace matches perfectly.  It’s one of those multi-color beaded necklaces that you can wear with anything.  Yesterday I wore it with a nice fall mustard yellow.  Today, with my new dark teal/turquoise sweater.  Love multitasking jewelry.
  • A couple of weekends ago hubby and I took that fall drive in to Wisconsin.  We had breakfast at a Panera Bread.  This morning I was really craving one of their Pumpkin Spice Lattes.  Yummm!  I had to settle for a drive-thru dose of McDonald’s coffee with my own creamer.  It’s hitting the spot.
  • In my desire for that latte I realized that our little River City needs another drive-thru coffee hut.  There are two, and I

    More fall flowers

understand they are both very good.  However, neither are on my route to work.  I’m urging friends to pursue this business opportunity.  A good, reasonably priced, cup-o-Joe and some home-baked goodies.  Is that too much to ask for?

  • The sun is shining and we have another BEAUTIFUL crisp autumn morning.  I am amazed that we still have so much color on the trees.  Those leaves that are left are still brilliant.
  • So many things going on in our family that stress me out.  But one phone call this morning alerting me to a stranger’s tragedy puts it all in perspective.  Thank you God for the abundant blessings you have given us!

Have a wonderful week everyone!!

It was one of those busy and super fast weekends!  Seriously, why can’t weekends be longer?

  • Dave is feeling a little better every day.  Although, he is still very tired and a little yellow.  It seems his appetite has returned which is a relief.
  • We attended the wedding of a man we’ve known all his life.  How did the years fly by so quickly?  What a blessing to see this boy grow into a man of integrity!  Beautiful wedding and fun reception.
  • Church on Sunday.  Awesome words from God via our pastor.  One of those sermons that seems to be written just for me.
  • Grandkids’ birthday party.  Whew!  Not sure how they keep up that pace.  Highlight of the part for grandma and grandpa…the smiles and “cool”s and “awesome”s as the gifts were received.  Always glad when we “do good”.

Now, on to Monday.  Praying that God’s thoughts, words and actions become mine.  A goal I must achieve!
