Our six-year-old grandson came up with the idea on Sunday that Grandpa needs to help him make a “box house”.  At first it was going to have to be made of wood.  Not sure if he saw this on TV or if his imagination just ran wild.  Grandpa put him off and we went our separate ways for the evening.

This morning, there was Mister Man at the bedroom door…knock knock “Gommpa?”  We knew what he wanted.  He needed to discuss the building plan with Grandpa again.

Is this what he's thinking? Not gunna happen buddy.

Today at lunch Mister Man walks into the kitchen…”GOMMPA?!”, he says more insistent than before.  You can see where this is going right?  The boy is not going to let up until Grandpa some how obtains some large boxes for him to build with.  I talked to him about his design plans.  I suggested that he may want to have one tall box and then lay out the others (he insists there need to be three!) on their sides so that the tall box gives the structure an castle-like appearance.  He seemed confused so I drew it out for him.   He considered this design for a moment and then say “naaaah”.  Not sure what he has in his mind, but rest assured that however it comes together, he will be the architect.

I also mentioned to him that our eight-year-old granddaughter would really dig this project and could be of great help.  Holding his hands out he exclaims “Yeah! I NEED HELP!”   We have no idea where to build such a structure.  One box would go fine on our front porch.  But three?  Hummm…that’s a challenge.

Not sure when, where or if this is going to end as Grandpa and Grandma have a very busy week ahead.  The project may be put on hold until the weekend.   Stay tuned!

UPDATE ON 10/28:  Well, I’ve done it now! After a few days of no talk about a “box house”, Izaic just saw Grandpa reading this blog and saw the picture. “That’s what I want!” he declared. Oops!
